10 seriously funny faxes

By | Posted November 9th, 2011

Faxes tend to be straightforward and business-related, but that’s not always the case. Funny faxes can brighten the day of the receiver, and interesting uses for faxes can sometimes be even better. Movies and TV shows have introduced faxing comedy to the pop culture world as well!  Here are the top 10 funniest faxes out there.

Zombies

Someone, somewhere is looking out for the safety of humanity. This individual had the foresight to fax out zombie attack preparedness tips so that others would know what to do in case of a zombie apocalypse. This is an awesome example of someone paying it forward via fax.

Back to the Future 2

In 2015, owning flying cars and having fax machines in the bathroom will be the norm, according to Back to the Future 2. Despite some minor failures at predicting the future, this movie delivers a funny scene in which future Marty McFly’s boss fires him through video chatting and by sending ridiculous faxes to several machines saying, “YOU’RE FIRED!!!” on them. Luckily getting let go is a little more tasteful these days.

Royal Wedding

Many people don’t know that the first save-the-dates for the exciting Royal Wedding were sent out via fax. They consider it the most efficient way to deliver information to a large number of people. This is probably true, but who ever thinks to check their fax machines for wedding announcements?

Cat Attack

This video isn’t exactly about a specific fax, but it’s too cute and amusing to leave out. A copy machine sitting on the tiled floor and humming as it works intrigues the orange cat. The cat struggles to understand the contraption by trying to get a better look at where the paper comes from. Adorable!

Inappropriate Fax Response

How do you send the message that someone’s fax was inappropriate? Respond with a cover sheet saying so, of course! Is there a better way to do that than using a mean-looking 2D elderly woman? No. There probably isn’t.

Grilled Cheese

This fax image was posted on a blog which explains that a woman’s husband enjoys sending her silly faxes at work. The fax appears to declare the fax machine’s love for grilled cheese sandwiches, but there’s a deeper level of meaning, as the “d” in “liked” is scratched out. What did grilled cheese do, oh fax machine, that made you reconsider your love for it?

Ridiculous Cover Sheet

One of the free fax cover sheets available on the Internet is this one, with its crazy Microsoft Office WordArt and a random clipart picture of an opera-singing man. Nothing says, “Here’s a fax,” like rainbow font and a giant mustache.

The Office

Leave it to The Office to come up with one of the funniest fax ideas. Jim pranks Dwight by sending him faxes from Dwight’s future self and warning him about made-up, terrible events that will happen in his present. Pure genius.

Meeting Joke

While most people know that meetings can be much more productive than what’s described in this fax, the humor isn’t lost. It’s great in that it pokes fun at meetings that aren’t efficient, which tend to exclusively feature these above qualities. Plus, anytime drawing flowcharts is part of a joke basically makes it a winner right off the bat.

Punk’d

According to Sir John Hargrave on Zug.com, Hargrave pranked Ashton by helping to trick the media into thinking that Ashton’s marriage to Demi Moore was really part of a Punk’d routine. While Hargrave was expecting Ashton to be displeased with the fact that he was pranked, Hargrave posted the fax that Ashton sent him, clearly having a good sense of humor about the situation.

Conclusion

Faxes can be pretty hilarious in a variety of ways, from cover sheet imagery making a silly point to actual faxes that are meant solely for amusement to TV shows making faxing jokes to poke fun at office culture. Regardless of the technique, faxing can sometimes be the vehicle for someone’s sense of humor.
