Great, cheap online tools for small businesses

By | Posted September 20th, 2011

One way for small businesses to save money is to add to their operations arsenal some of the great online tools available out there.

Google Docs

Assess if you really need to spend the money on MS Office by checking out Google Docs (docs.google.com).  Once you sign-up for a free Gmail account, you have immediate access to a suite of programs for word processing, spreadsheets, drawing, etc.

Tumblr/Posterous

Does your business really need a website? If not, check out popular Tumblr  (www.tumblr.com) and Posterous  (www.posterous.com) websites. These sites offer great template designs to customize your online presence, an easy way to post content and share important information with your customers.

Dropbox

Dropbox  (http://www.dropbox.com/) is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. Just open an account and upload as you would save to your hard drive.

Mechanical Turk

Do you have some small task like data entry that needs to get done?  Check out Amazon’s Mechanical Turk (www.mechanicalturk.com) where you can post tasks for an army of remote workers to view and bid on.

There are dozens of other tools like this available for small businesses. We will continue to pick out the best ones in the months ahead. And, of course, please check out the free trial to use our internet fax services: https://www.metrofax.com/free-trial
